Falcon started in 1929 in Amsterdam, the capital of Holland. The location of the factory at the “Valkenweg” gave the brand its name: “Falcon”.

Early years

In those early years Falcon developed raincoats with the sole purpose of keeping people dry and warm. The first line of raincoats that was launched, turned out to be a big success. “Falcon” soon became a household name when it came to raincoats.

In the 30’s Falcon made the first steps in manufacturing more than just highly functional raincoats. A fashion designer was brought in from Berlin to develop a line of trendy ladies coats. Being “weatherproof” was still the most important feature of the Falcon coats, but design, color and the choice of fabric became almost equally important.

World War II

The Second World War brought difficult times for the Dutch. For Falcon one of the darkest pages in history was when the Germans soldiers deported 367 Jewish employees in November 1942. They were sent to concentration camps together with their family members. Most of them never returned. In the years after the war Falcon had to rebuild the business: the factory was empty, the machines needed repair, good fabric was not available and, worst of all, the employees were gone.

The 50’s meant a period of revival for Falcon. A new line of mens coats was put on the market, designed according to the latest fashion trends just like the ladies collection. Falcon launched a big advertising campaign and became very successful once more. The popularity of the new products expanded far across the Dutch borders. Falcon coats were sold all over Europe and beyond.

In the 80’s Falcon took a big step and started to develop more than just raincoats. The company designed a complete line of high quality ski and sportswear. Protecting people against the most severe weather conditions is still the main purpose of Falcon clothing, but fashion design plays an almost equally important role. Falcon stands for modern ski and sportswear, designed to keep people warm and dry no matter what they do or where they go.
